Sharayet - Movie

The story of the film is based on the love of two teenage girls for each other in a homosexual love relationship and the problems that such a relationship faces in the current atmosphere of Iran.

Sara Kazemi says: Before she started working on this film, she went to her place of residence in Iran for the last time to say goodbye to her relatives, friends and the country she loves. He knew that he would not be able to return to Iran after playing in this movie.

Sara Kazemi plays the role of one of these two teenagers named "Shirin".

The actor of the role of "Emotion" is another teenager, Nikol Bushehri. The writer and director of the film is Maryam Keshavarz, an Iranian cinematographer living in America.

This film has been produced with a budget close to one million dollars, and due to the restrictions in Iran, most of it has been filmed in one of the Middle Eastern countries.

Maryam Keshavarz said in an interview with the New York Times: "I have always looked at myself as a translator between the two societies of Iran and America. I have been to and returned to Iran throughout my life. By making this film, I wanted to tell some aspects of Iran's modern life to the outside world. One of these aspects is the state of duality in the daily life of many young people, there is an underground world in Iranian society, and in this film I wanted to show this world.

Some parts of this story may be similar to the lives of people like Mariam Keshavarz and other Iranians who live between Iran and abroad. Apart from the writer and director of the film, all three young actors are children of Iranian families who immigrated to Western countries years ago.

According to the New York Times, Maryam Keshavarz, the writer and director of the movie "Conditions", tried to have all the conversations in Persian, except for a few English sentences, in order to have the greatest impact on the Iranian immigrant community. But for young actors who grew up abroad and are used to the common Persian of a few decades ago, it was very difficult to talk in today's common accent and common expressions among the young Iranian generation.

The film "Conditions" received the best film award at the "Sundance" film festival in January. Maryam Keshavarz says that she never intended to make a political film, but in a situation where the government tries to control all the private aspects of people's lives, even private life becomes political in a way.

This movie was made in Beirut, which according to the actors had a similar atmosphere to Iran. At the same time, the producers of the film were worried that the Hezbollah group would find out about the details of their work and create problems for them.

One of the producers of the film says: "In a sensitive and changing situation like Lebanon, we had to take some considerations into account. At first we thought that maybe we should make some changes in the sexual and controversial themes of the story, but in the end we realized that it is better to keep the Iranianness of the story completely hidden in order to avoid any danger. Therefore, we presented a modified version of the scenario to the Lebanese authorities.

However, in some cases, the production of this film faced problems. On one of the last days of production, the police shut down the filming scene, thinking that a pornographic film was being made.

Maryam Keshavarz, the writer and director of the film "Conditions", says at the end of the interview with the New York Times:

"The experience of making this film is like the life of many families in conditions like Iran, who try to build a safe and secure sanctuary for their private lives. In my film, this is also a central issue. This movie is a kind of valuing love, a love that is a tragedy at the same time.

Because every kind of love and every embodiment of love is always attacked and eventually forced to compromise.
